Get creative and spice up those dull windows with unique window treatments |
Simple Cornice Board - or create unique shaped cornice boards Foam core board (standard 40" x 36" piece) 2/3 yds. of 54" decorator fabric 1 1/2 yds. fringe Directions Cut foam core in half, lengthwise, creating a workable piece 40" x 15" or 18". Measure width of window and add 2" for return. Cut length of foam core to this measurement. Mark the center of the board and measure up about 5" from bottom edge. Draw cutting lines from bottom corner to center mark to form inverted 'V' shape. Use X-acto knife to cut board on drawn lines. Score the board 1" from each end on front side of board and bend back to create a return. Cut batting to fit front of cornice. Glue batting to front of board. Cut fabric 2" larger than the foam board on all sides. Place over batting and glue edges to back of board. Clip fabric at inverted 'V' section and corners to create a smooth fit. Glue fringe on bottom edge. Mount to window frame with a staple gun. |
